Esther and I said goodbye to Olga, Alex, Rina, Loki and Irie and headed off to San Francisco.
The flight was the shortest we'd had on our entire trip. It was also the smallest plane we'd had too. I couldn't even stand upright in it.
First thing Esther and I saw when we stepped off the train from the airport was a bum FLYING down one of the steep hills of SF riding on a shopping trolly. He was really moving, overtaking cars and everything while people on the sidewalk cheered him on. It was really amazing! It was also every teenagers dream.
Next thing we noticed what that it was almost the same as Sydney. After dropping off our bags at the hostel in an area that felt like Ultimo, we walked down to the bay/harbour where they have a big bridge, an island with a stone building on it, gum trees in the park, safeway shops and hills all over the place. Weird.
That night Esther spent sitting on her computer uploading photos while I read local mags.
Today we caught the Trolley Bus (very cool!) to this place called the Exploratorium which is pretty much all the Powerhouse Museum exhibits that you can play with multiplied by ten and crammed into one place. That was great and it was free Wednesday, so that was better, but there were TEN MILLION KIDS. Most kids I've ever seen in any place other than a school. They were heck annoying. We ended up leaving about half way through the place because we hadn't eaten and Esther had had her 'child quota' for the day more than filled. Ended up being served the largest Caesar salad I've ever been given the privilege to eat, and somehow I ate the entire thing! Esther distracted me by talking at me and before we knew it it had all been eaten. Welcome back online stomach!
We wandered around town a bit checking out heaps of cool restaurants and cafes and things, went for a Cable Car ride and are now sitting in the Hostel. Good times!
