Mt Rushmore

Today was Mt Rushmore day. We all piled into Sarah's car (Sarah, Esther, Stapleton, Gary, Kasey, Bernard, Kevin and me) and drove to Mt Rushmore. On arrival we all jumped out of the car to run to take photos of a Mountain Goat on the side of the road. Gary ran up to it and scared it so much it jumped off a ledge! Poor goat, poor Gary.
The mountain itself was pretty good. I thought you'd have to stand a lot further away than what you do as we took a LOT of photos. Most of them were just jumping about being crazy and having fun. Esther took some great polaroid photos, so ask her about them when you see her!
They have this track that runs underneath it, so there was much looking up their noses to be had. The trees and forest were particularly nice as well, so it was a great experience to just walk around the mountainside, let alone see the carvings.
After grabbing some lunch we drove to Sheridan Lake to go cliff jumping (ignore the photo on Wikipedia, it make it looks bad)! It was a bit of a trek from the road, but on arrival we were greeted with the beautiful sight of the lake and forest surrounding it. It was exactly out of a movie. We then proceeded to ignore it and spent the next few hours jumping off the high cliffs into the water. There is a lot of video and photos of this, so when some are online I'll post them. It was so much fun but if you landed awkward like I did a few times..OUCH! I think I have a mild case of concussion right now as it's more than 16 hours afterwards and I STILL have a sore head.
Sarah's tour bus then took us to a place called Deadwood, which is essentally a casino town in the middle of the state. All the buildings were straight out of the 1800's and housed many types of casinos. In one of them was where the origin of the "Dead Man's Hand" began. It was the place Wild Bill was shot and they have the chair he was sitting in up on the wall, complete with bullethole in the back. Pretty crazy.
